Dual boot on separate drives

Hi, I'm going to use two Samsung nvme drives to hold windows 7 and windows 10, but obviously due to price I'm going to back them up with hdds.

My question is wether or not I will need an hdd for each operating system or can they share a single hdd for data such as games like skyrim, ie, being able to access a steam library downloaded in windows 10, on windows 7.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Some games can be shared but they are the exception, many will probably work but save game files could be different for each OS.
Like Astralv I don't understand the motivation, just stick with windows 10. I can't think of any reason to use 7 for gaming now.
What does dual booting 2 versions of windows achieve for you exactly?

If you are determined to do it you will need to duplicate installs on for your games.

Are you going to duplicate your gaming set up from 2 different OS Boots? This makes no sense. You should be able to use the same drive but it will be different installs- you will have to install each game from different OS and set the same drive- probably partition that drive or have totally different locations, otherwise it will have file conflict. You must have very good reason to have 2 OSs- "I don't trust Windows 10" is not good enough excuse to create such a confusion.

Basically the motivation is that skyrim, a directx 9 game, and others like it have a 4 gb Vram usage cap on them in windows 10, an unavoidable bug that diminished performance for most of those games. The motivation is to be able to play both directx 9 and directx 12 games without being held back by incompatibility. For me it's reason enough to warrant a dual OS system given the amount of time I spend playing dx9 games.

Your call. I played Skyrim through once with the HD texture pack on windows 10 personally and saw no issues with it. Maybe I had "diminished" performance, who knows. All I care about was it was perfectly smooth. Actually I play quite a lot of old games on windows 10 and have no issues, but that's just me.

It's more to do with modding in 2k and 4K texture replacements into the game, Making the game look amazing with mods and such, these large textures increase the VRAM usage. Anyway thanks for the answer it'll help in the long run!
