CPU overheating out of nowhere

Hi all.

I recently (6 months) upgraded my CPU with an Hyper 212 LED cooler and have had no temperature issues until about a week ago.

[Parts]
-NZXT H440 Steel
-AMD FX 6300
-GTX 1070
-Hyper 212 LED
-MSI 970A GAMING PRO CARBON motherboard
-Corsair 500w Builder Series PSU
-Samsung 850 Pro SSD 256GB

[Problem]
While in game the temperature of the CPU jumps to around 65 degrees Celsius from launch, and after sustained play at these temperatures the display will freeze. The only way to fix it is a force shut down and reboot. All cores are idled at around 50% usage.

[What I've Tried]
-Applying new thermal paste
-Cleaning out case
-Leaving the side off

This is completely out of the blue as the problem came up within a week ago after sustaining the load for a good 6 months. Most of the parts in my computer are the same age as the new cooler. Any ideas?

65c isnt a dangerous temperature. have you made sure the cpu cooler makes complete contact with the cpu?

Monitor the more precise thermal margins with AMD Overdrive; do they stay at 10°C or higher at full load? You believe the CPU is overheating, but the issue you described can be caused by the GPU. How long do you play before the system hang? Can you duplicate the issue when stress testing the CPU or the GPU?
