Hello,
I recently bought myself a new motherboard cpu and ram.
after I had installed everything it was working fine, until I checked my ram and I saw only 4GB of my 8GB's of ram is available. I tried reseating my CPU, putting my ram in different slots. (1a 1b. 2a 2b) de MSCONFIG thing. but nothing seems to work. my bios also says there are 2 4GB ram sticks connected but it only has 4GB of ram. Can anyone help.
System specs:
2x 4GB Kingston HyperX Predator - DDR4
ASUS Prime B350-Plus Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 Ti
Windows 10 64 Bit

I also updated my bios to the latest version and updated my chipset. and increased the Dram voltage

Its normal for my windows to usr up half of my Ram?? Ny laptop which also has 8gb. Uses the full capacity of the ram

Probably a single stick of ram , that stresses the memory controller alot.

But it still doesn't sound right. That it's normal that my system reserves half of my ram. it would mean, that when I buy 8 extra, I will only see 8. I don't think that's the way it is intended to work....

But the moment I installed a clean version of windows it just was like 4gb available of the 8gb. and my bios also says 4gb of ram but he detects both Dimms. So I don't think that windows and antivirus are the problem. and if they both take up 4gb why do pc's with 4gbs of ram still exist and are able to game and stuff?

And still it doesn't make any sense it gives 4gb to my system even though other dual channel systems i've had had around 7.8Gb

I tested everything, and I found out what I was afraid of. One of my sticks if faulty, so I contacted the supplier, today I'll receive new ones.
