Hi,
I have recently bought a cheap HP Compaq computer and I'm in the process of upgrading the system.

I have bought a core 2 quad q6600, 4gb ddr2 667mhz ram and a 300w FSP300-60GHN power supply. I am in the process of buying a graphics card, but I don't know which one to buy because of the power draw. I know theres the Rx 550, 750ti and gt 1030 but they're all over £60 and I only want to spend around £30. I was thinking of the gts 450, but it does require a 6 pin. So basically would a 300w 80+ run a q6600 gts 450 2gb and 4gb ddr2 ram with all the other stuff in the system?

Solution
105W CPU, maybe 50W for the balance..... on a "300w" PSU that's now somewhere right around 10 years old, there's no guarantee what that PSU can do.

24A on the combined 12V rails when 'new'....... in theory, a used 750TI would be your best bet (outperforming a 550 or 1030 by quite a margin), in practise, it'll depend how well that PSU performs these days.

Lots of 750TI's currently in the 30-40GBP bidding range, I'd try to pick one of them up.
