GTX 970 works in other systems but not mine.

Part list linked at the bottom...
I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why this card isn't detected in my system when I've tested it in two other systems where it worked just like it should so any input here would be much appreciated.
It's not being detected at all in windows, in my bios I have set pci-e as priority and there are no other options associated with the gpu, my gtx 660 ti is currently in the system and running just fine and there are still no other options or anything else "detecting" any gpu in my bios, it is just not a feature or option on this mobo.
I have tried connecting the 970 with a dvi-agp adapter to my monitor and hdmi to a tv but get no display either way..
I have tried deleting all old drivers and disabling the onboard geforce 7025.
I am about to restart after installing 132 windows updates to see if that makes any difference.
The msi 970 4g has a 6 pin and 8 pin power connection and both are plugged in directly from the modular psu without any type of adapter.
The 660ti is being replaced with 970 until all the parts for a new build come in, I understand that the 970 will be bottlenecked by this setup but I want it to work so I can use the 660 in another system I'm selling.
The 970 lights up and the fans come on for a little bit then the fans shut off which is how it is supposed to work until the card reaches a certain temp to trigger the fans but still no output from the card and still no detection in device manager.
I'm hoping someone can just look at my setup and say "oh that's why" so I can stop banging my head against a wall but I am open to trying some more troubleshooting.
I did see a thread about the bios on a similar mobo not being uefi and not being compatible with the 970 but I also saw other threads contradicting that but I really don't know.

I just read a thread saying the same thing and I'm pretty sure you are correct sir!
I really wish it were easier to check compatibility for this because I don't understand why this mobo wont handle anything higher and now I'm worried about getting the motherboard and cpu I was looking into in case it's not compatible with the 970 or a 1080ti when they come down in price.

Its a 2009 motherboard so in all honesty its not a huge surprise.

I'm sure it could be made compatible but asrock are not going to release a newer bios for that board nowadays
Any branded motherboard from 2013 onwards will run the newer cards absolutely fine.
What were you actually looking at upgrading to in the future ??

I've been looking at the AMD FX-8350 Black Edition and ASUS 970 PRO Motherboard to keep the cost of the build around $600 since I built this one in 2010 for about $550 but now I'm thinking about just holding out a little bit longer for the am4 cpus to drop in price.
I guess by then the 1080ti will come down a bit too so I might just be selling this 970 to start saving for a good vr rig.

I wouldn't expect am4 CPU's to come down mate in all honesty , the 1600 is already rock bottom price for what but is.

That's the chip to be going for

In modern day terms the fx line is officially dead , you would be wasting your money.

A ryzen 1600 & a 970 is a blinding mid range gaming machine combo.

So I ended up getting an fx8320 system for $100 and put this card in and im still having the same no signal issue. I will be doing all the basic troubleshooting throughout the week but I'm still stumped that it worked fine in one system and no others I've tried it in since and I did go back to the seller who can put it in his system and have it work just fine for him.
