How can I fix my computer's speed and game-loading issues?

Hey guys,

I just bought and installed a GTX 1050 ti on my rig. My other specs include an FX 6300 processor, a 600 W Corsair power supply. I run on windows 8.1, and i play the majority of my games through steam. As of late, my loading time once my computer logs in has grown by a fair deal. Last night I installed my new graphics card, replacing my AMD R7 260x (a severely outdated card, but it did its job well). After installation, i put in the drivers. My computer at first reacted positively, but after some time I found that I could not load one of my favorite games (Ark Survival). I "optimized" its settings on the GeForce experience. After rebooting my computer multiple times, freezing mid load, etc., it finally opened onto a server. It then continued to freeze, receive horrible FPS and kick me off. I updated my drivers overnight, cleaned my computer, and validated my files. I am wondering if i am bottlenecking either from my CPU, even though a bottleneck calculator said it would only be around 2%, or it my mobo is causing issues. Does anyone have any advice? It has been extraordinarily frustrating to install a new graphics card and be met by a wide array of issues.
Thanks,

Palmer

you can keep it, but if you want to play newer games, it will struggle very hard and cause bottle necks. I still recommend you upgrade. If you get the B350 from MSI that is a Ryzen board and your FX will not work. You will also need newer DDR4 memory as well. You might as well get a Ryzen 5 1400 or 1500.
Well you want to get rid of the old driver's junk. Use DDU to completely remove both drivers and then re-install the GTX drivers. you also have a older CPU so that is something to consider. You may want to do a defrag and run a chkdsk to see if your hard drive have any errors. An SSD would help, but I wouldn't invest any more into that machine without doing an overhaul.

How do you do a DDU? and or defrag? I un-installed all the AMD drivers before installing the GTX ones. Also, when you say an overhaul, do you mean purchasing a new CPU and mobo?

For Mobos i was looking at this:

MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard

Would you recommend it with an FX 6300 and the GTX 1050 ti? Its a less expensive unit with good ratings and performance.
From what I am reading I shouldn't need to replace my CPU.
