Hello everyone,

I just upgraded my system from FX8300 to Ryzen 5 1600.

I updated my Bios to latest version which is 7A34vH4.

I couldn't get a stable overclocked setup so far. When I overclock my Rams to 2933 everything is ok until 1 restart of the system. So I go on using rams at 2133... When I overclock my CPU to 3.6 (which is turbo limit already - not actually an overclock I assume) weirdly it downclocks itself to 1.5ghz after OS loaded. Windows shows 3.6 but MSI command center and Hwmonitor show 1.5 which is probably accurate because my gaming performance clearly drops down too...

So if any advice with is welcome. I hope there are other peopler have a similar rig.

My Rig;
Ryzen 5 1600 (stock fan)
MSI B350 Tomahawk Arctic
Sapphire Radeon RX480 Nitro+ OC 8GB
GSkill TridentZ 3200 Ram (2x8)
Sandisk SSD 480GB
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Toshiba P300 3TB
750W High Power 80+ PSU

With Ryzen's RAM just take what you can get and wait for newer bios verisons to fix the issue. Possibly 2666 would work for now. As for overclocking if you get 3.6Ghz its a overclock as stock wouldn't stay that high for long. Change your power settings to performance. Make sure in bios you have Cool&Quiet and Turbo disabled.

Hello,

I have the same CPU and MOBO as you have. What i think you just did wrong is that you updated the wrong BIOS version. According to this https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-TOMAHAWK-ARCTIC.html#support-cpu the version of BIOS of R5 1600 is 7A34vH1. So far I have my RAM running at 2933Mhz with A-XMP profile activated, but i had to set frequency manually too to 2933MHz and also the RAM voltage to 1.35v. About the CPU i could hit 3.7GHz at 1.25v but i had a reboot once while gaming so i went down to 3.65GHz at 1.2375v and everything seems to be fine.

PS: my RAM is HyperX Predator Black 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Dual Channel.
