The R9 380 is a tier up from the GTX 1050Ti, so theoretically it should be more powerful. [strike]Plus, it has twice the VRAM.

In their testing, there was only 1 game where the 1050Ti outperformed the R9 380 (Gears of War 4 with DX11), & maybe 2 or 3 games where they were neck-and-neck, but for the most part the R9 380 outperformed the 1050TI -- sometimes by only a slim margin, sometimes by a significant amount.

Given the choice, I'd go for the R9 myself.

EDIT: Didn't notice that it was the 4GB version of the R9. Still would pick it, though.

The 380 is the older 285 rebadged, the 285 dates from 2014. It also uses quite a lot of power. In my opinion, the differences in performance between the two isn't enough to outweigh those negatives.

Or, to say it another way, there is no objective reason to pick the 380. There is no game that runs significantly better on the 380 than the 1050 Ti. For example, on Doom someone might say "Dude, 97fps vs 78fps, you're crazy, that's significant" but to that I say "If you have a 60hz 1080p monitor, then there's no practical difference between 97 and 78, both are equally smooth gameplay under those conditions". And that's with Vulcan, it remains to be seen if Vulkan will turn out to be anything worthwhile.
