Hello community,

It's been a couple months since I last asked the community for information about first time building a PC. Well I finally got all components for this build yesterday. I had bumped up my budget from the previous components list that I wrote in here.

I brought an optical drive when I planned to get the case which I had wanted for so long. My Win10 OS is on disc and Windows Office is on disc too. But due to shipping issues. I had to change the case so I got myself a sexy In Win 909 but these don't support any 5'25" drive bays tho.

My questions start here.

1) If I were to use the optical drive, would it still work outside of the PC?
2) Should I use the disc that came with my MoBo to install drivers? If not, how do I install and update BIOS from a thumb drive.
3) If I use a thumb drive, which updates should I download? BIOS or BIOS Utilities?
4) On the ASUS website, there are a whole bunch of drivers that I could download. Do I need all of them? If so how do I install everyone of them? If not, which ones or one should I mainly just install?
5) Should I update all MoBo BIOS and such first before I install OS?

I pulled my old PC apart to use it as a build reference only to realise I would need a working PC to download drivers for new PC. Fortunately I found an old but working laptop in my room (last system update was back in 2011 o_O).

I am like a bag of fail moments and I consider myself to be a complete brain dead noob when it comes to technologies. I panicked and stressed over when building this PC. But fortunately all lights came on and PC started up perfectly last night. Btw is CPU temp of around 14-15 degrees Celsius okay at idle? Idk my old PC idles at 47 so I'm unsure.

PC parts list.
MoBo: ASUS ROG Maximus IX Formula
CPU: Intel i7-7700k
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB @ 3000mhz
GPU: ASUS STRIX 1080 TI OC
SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 500GB
HDD: Western Digital Black 6Tb

Sorry for long post.
But thank you kindly.

Solution
1. it would work anywhere if it's connected same way as inside the case.
2. Windows should have enough drivers to get you started, after you connect to internet you can download newest drivers.
3. BIOS is usually updated using USB stick formatted to Fat32 and bios file placed on it. Just follow instructions for MB.
4. Download only latest version of all drivers appropriate to your Windows.
5. If you have to, update BIOS first, Check compatibility list on MB manufacturer's site to see which BIOS is version is needed for that processor.
