Msi b350 tomahawk cooler mounting

Hi, I recently helped someone plan a Ryzen build with the r7 1700 and msi b350 tomahawk but they are having problems mounting the stock cooler. I haven't tried the new am4 coolers so I am of little help but I was wondering if anyone out there could give me a run down of how it goes on that board so I could pass the tips along. He says that what ever "rectangular" piece came on the board and he took it off and mounted it to the holes.

I think he's talking about the 2 plastic tabs that came with it, that is correct, you do need to remove them, and just leave the backplate on, ive heard a lot of people straggling to get the stock cooler on, the problem is, the screws dont quite seem long enough, what you need to do is sit the cooler...

I think he's talking about the 2 plastic tabs that came with it, that is correct, you do need to remove them, and just leave the backplate on, ive heard a lot of people straggling to get the stock cooler on, the problem is, the screws dont quite seem long enough, what you need to do is sit the cooler on top of the CPU, and then each of the 4 screws, just twist them until they bite, dont screw them all the way down, otherwise you'll struggle to do the rest up, once one has bitten the backplate threads, move to the next one, just until it bites, but in a diagonal config, so top left, then bottom right, then top right then bottom left, once they've all caught the backplate, then do them all up all the way.
