Hello.
Some questions from a guy who cannot keep up with the rapid technology anymore.
I have been running a custom built Desktop PC for audio recording for the past 7 years,
ACPI x 64
Intel Core i7 CPU Quad 930 @ 2.8 ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
Audio interface Steinberg UR22
RAM 18 GB
It is a dedicated machine. I run only Cubase, Band in a Box and Movie Studio 14.
I never trusted Windows 10, still running Windows 7.
Okay .. my main software seems to still run, but I have recently noticed that plugins and add-ons to that software will not open. I suspect they no longer tolerate Win 7 or the existing hardware. I wondered if it was time I considered a new machine for recording.
I am not a professional, just an old retired disabled vet, singer songwriter, who could use a bit of sound advice. God only knows you can’t ask those folks in Best Buy or take a chance on Amazon. All they recommend is some hot gaming system. I think it is time I ask the pros.
I don’t need a Ferrari but I need a system adequate to the task.
I can probably manage $1,000 up to $1,500. Should I consider a new dedicated audio recording CPU ?
Thanks
John
