I have an Intel 4790k, non overclocked (has turbo boost on). I just put in a Deepcool MAELSTROM 240T. It is idling at around 40 C and when under load (AIDA 64 or Prime95), it throttles and hits 100 C! The cooler was installed and let to sit for around 24 hrs before is used it.
What could be causing this high temp?

Are you sure that there is not too much thermal paste applied on the CPU? Maximum should be a 3mm diameter blob which will spread out to cover the entire CPU IHS surface.

Also I feel that your AIO waterblock may not be in contact with your CPU.

Ok will do, also forgot to mention, in the manual for the cooler it said to place it so the tubes come out the top/bottom as you look at the cpu, however they were slightly too short so i placed it so the tubes go outwards to the right, could this be causing a problem?
