r9 290 100% usage spikes in old games [solved]

Hi!
Since a recent win10 update(not sure how recent), where it updated my gpu drivers too for some reason, all the older games that run in fullscreen periodically freeze with GPU usage spiking to 100% when the freezes happen. Newer games do not have this issue. By old games I mean 10-20 years old games. Has anoyone had this problem before, and what can I do about it?

Edit: Just in case anybody's wondering, I had to edit windows update policies so it won't install drivers on its own, then I uninstalled the drivers with ddu in safe mode (didn't work without safe mode), then installed 15.12, at least for the old games that I have, it worked perfectly.

Windows feature updates sometimes update drivers too, it's sad but true.
If you know what driver version you had before, you could uninstall the "new" one and go back to the one you had before.
Alternately, just update whole driver yourself, Microsoft's drivers usually update only parts of the whole bundle to work on the desktop.
