What is the difference between EVGA, MSI and Nvidia

I have a question regarding the different brands or manufacturers of the Nvidia cards. I am looking to purchase the Geforce GTX 1080 ti Founders Edition card and I am not sure what the differences are between these brands besides the price. I am not a gamer, but do need a high end card for rendering and 3D programs such as Modo, Skethcup, ZBrush and Photoshop. Any recommendations would be very helpful. Here are the options:

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti- FE Founder's Edition

MSI GTX 1080 Ti Founder's Edition

EVGA Geforce GTX 1080 Founder's Edition

Asus Geforce GTX 1080 Ti Founder's Edition

Thanks!

Brands like MSI/EVGA/ASUS have solid brand recognition, compared to other players like Zotac, PNY etc.

Generally speaking, cooling solution will differ between brands, there are higher and lower end offerings (better binned for OCing etc).

As for FE's specifically; those are the reference cards as nVidias stock spec - sold by their board partners.
They're identical cards. Regardless of the partner selling them, they'll be the same. 1.48GHz core, 1.58GHz boost 267mm length, 3x DP 1x HDMI.

You could just buy a FE directly from nVidia for the $699.99 MSRP

The name on the box. All the founders cards are the same card built by nvidia, there is no difference between any of those cards, besides the normal 1080 in there which is a weaker card than the 1080 ti but still very powerful. I cant imagine photshop is going to make good use of a 1080 ti, not sure about those other programs. I would personally wait a while to buy a gpu, prices on everything are WAY up due to the latest bit coin mining craze. 1080 ti prices should be around 700 dollars not 1000+ that's absolutely ridiculous, even $860 is ridiculous for a founders 1080 ti.

well seems like no one knows anything about pc parts... But there is a difference... In the pcb, in the capacitors, in the lay out, in the power delivery...

How uneducated is everyone???? Please do research... google things like hynix, like samsung, like micron... How could 3 different memory companies make the same memory? And why do those "same cards" use different memory suppliers? Hmmm... ????!??!?!

I'm actually stunned that a more educated person didn't come to point this out on this forum.

Only FE founder edition cards are the same. Cause they are Nvidia produced. Everything else is custom made by the COMPANY, like evga, or msi. etc.

Very useless information, saying they are the same. That's actually unacceptable. And misleading.

Yellon, the OP specifically asked between the differences in FE cards.

The Founders Edition cards are identical cards, at least in theory.

1. the PCB is Nvidia's reference design, the caps, layout etc are the same.
2. While the FE *should* ship with Samsung memory, as per the reference design - some 1070 units did ship with Micron memory. That being said, at stock speeds, there's no difference. Overclocking, YMMV between the two, but performance-wise, they're identical.

The FE cards are not "made" by Nvidia. The cards sold by them (with only Nvidia branding) are made without involvement of the board partners, yes....... but the branded cards (MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte etc) are manufactured BY those vendors, to Nvidia's reference spec.

As for "everything else" (than the FE card) being made custom by the card vendor.... that's just false.
Cards do exist with custom PCBs, not disputing that..... but they're typically limited more to the higher 'tiers' of cards.
There are still plenty vendor cards which slap an aftermarket cooler on a reference PCB (or make very minor alterations to the reference design).

More prevelant on 1060's and 1070's but, other than FE cards, all these 1080TI's are compatible with the 'standard' waterblock for a 1080TI ie. use either the stock reference board, or with very slight modifications only.
