Dell Optiplex 790 DT - What are my options?

I have this machine - Dell Optiplex 790 DT - i7-2600, 16GB RAM.

I have a Samsung 850 Pro SSD.

I'd like to use this rig for gaming if possible, but I understand I am going to be limited by it's size as well as goofy power limits to the PCI slots. I actually plan to run the wireless adapter off the sole PCIe slot, but it does have other PCI slots.

I am now looking at upgrading the PSU, which will be limited because of the size, but understand it's a TFX so the most I can likely get will be 350-400w - still better than what I have.

After that, I'll have to get a low-profile graphics card, but being limited to the power to the PCI again my options are very little.

Do I have any hope here, or am I better off building a different rig that offers more flexibility? The only thing I've actually put money into so far is the SSD. The machine was free

Nvidia uses 300W as their standard low end recommendation. They never go lower than that. The GT 1030 can easily run on your Dell PSU. So can the GTX 750 Ti.
Look on your PSU's nameplate and read the +12V specs. If this is your PSU, it is fine. Slightly stronger than the Dell 240W I have a GTX 1050 Ti running on.

If you're sure a standard TFX will work in that Dell, the GTX 1050 Ti low-profile would be the best card.

But if the PC is anything like the Dells I have, the PSU and its connections may be a bit proprietary. Check that out first, just in case. Might not be an issue with the desktop.

For what it's worth... I have a GTX 1050 Ti in my Optiplex 790 SFF (i5-2400) running fine on its 240W PSU with its single 17 amp +12V rail. But I do so at my own risk.

Thanks - I've actually been looking at the GT 1030 as it should really outperform the stock Intel 4400 HD graphics, and it only draws 30w (I think I can get 35w max on the PCI slot). It also comes in low profile.

My PSU says 250w, and I'm concerned that card recommends overall PSU of 300w though.
