I bought some new RAM ( crucial sport 8gb) and I didn't realise but my dog grabbed it and my guess is that he chewed it a little but this was still in packaging there is some damage to case but I can't see any physical damage to actual RAM stick apart from a very small dent on the gold connectors ( I'm unsure if they are called pins or connectors)....

Would it be broken or not?

Hi,

A small dent on the pins could make all the difference because it means that the pins will not be aligned correctly when plugged in to the motherboard which can cause issues at any point and could cause RAM drop outs as it may be faulty.

However, it may be worth a try taking it out the packaging and looking at it properly before putting it slotting...

Hi,

A small dent on the pins could make all the difference because it means that the pins will not be aligned correctly when plugged in to the motherboard which can cause issues at any point and could cause RAM drop outs as it may be faulty.

However, it may be worth a try taking it out the packaging and looking at it properly before putting it slotting in to the main board, it could still work. Dont force it in, as if, it is misshaped you dont want it breaking the MOBO connectors. See if slots in normally, if it does then chances are you may be in luck.

Once you have slotted the RAM in make sure you make sure you go in to the BIOS and ensure you can see the device. If you can id recommend just phoning up the supplier and saying you bought a damaged module, more often than not they'll replace it without making too mcuh of a big deal.

I hope this helps you :)
