So i have this 980ti card 06g-p4-4992-kr. I purchased and installed the aftermarket cooler. And years later i want to sli. Now i understand i should add the same version of the graphics card but im fuzzy on what the same version would be. Same model number? Same gpu? Will another similar 980 ti card work in sli with my current one? Will having a hybrid cooled 980ti matched with a non hybrid but same model number screw with anything?

Solution
it has to be another 980ti, matching speeds would be nice but doenst have to be. When SLI it will take the lowest speeds of the two cards and make it the common speed.

If you were to pair a FTW (FTW's come with a OC pre installed that you pay extra for) with a stock card, the FTW will be downclocked to match the speed of the stock card.
