I downloaded all the necessary drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's site, I'm not too sure how to install them though. Someone told me to use windows update, but after trying that, I don't think it installed any of the new drivers. Has it something to do with me not downloading them to the same drive with windows or is there something else to it?

Solution
each driver you individually download will only have 1 driver in it. each will likely have a handful of other random file in the unzipped folder, but there should only be 1 or 2 applications for each.

all you do to install the downloaded drivers it double click on them. Usually mobo manufacturers have a program you download (or that comes with the mobo) that will then let you choose what drivers you want to install.

but yes, windows update will install some of the basic things. that said its usually a better idea to go with the manufacturers drivers over microsoft's basic drivers.

oh my bad, that is just a tool for installing windows 7. hmm...

it looks like you just have to download the drivers you want individually. then double click on each one to install it. That said, your mobo should have come with a cd with all the drivers on it.

once downloaded. you double click on each file you downloaded, this will install it. a few messages might pop up asking if you want to install such and such driver and where you want to install it to (the default path is fine). once you click through it will install the driver and youre all set

The downloaded drivers came as zip files so they had to be unzip according to windows. Was that the right call? because now it feels unnecessarily complicated.

well, for example... the chipset driver has 2 applications in the unzipped folder. you can actually choose either of them. It doesnt matter. they will both install the driver. One will likely have a fancy interface while doing it, and the other probably doesnt. Hence the file size disparity.
