Laptop HDD in Desktop

So I've just pulled apart an old Dell laptop, and found it has a 320GB Seagate Hardrive in, in quite good condition.

I'm thinking of putting it in my desktop to add a bit more storage if at all possible.

How would I know if this HDD would work in my Desktop with it been from a laptop, what do I need to look for?

Thanks.

Yep, just make sure the computer is OFF before you install that little drive.
It won't attempt to boot from that drive unless it has windows on it.
If it DOES have windows you can still expect your computer to continue booting from you current windows drive.

So I can literally just plug and play?

How do I make sure the PC selects the correct hard drive to boot from?
