I'm looking into getting my first mechanical keyboard. I'm currently considering three, here's the link to the three compared on Newegg, but I'm more than open to suggestions for something else. And yes, I'm going for a red/black color scheme since that's what my build and set-up are lol

I'm not quite sure what to look out for as far as what may make a mechanical keyboard good, great or just not worthwhile, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd definitely appreciate it!

$100 is my budget.

Most of it is personal preference. I highly recommend going to a computer store and just start typing on them to get a sense of feel and pressure.

Example: Das Prime 13 and Logitech G710+ are both mechanical keyboards with white backlight & Cherry MX Brown, but the feel of the Prime 13 is a bit more rugged and the keys needed a bit more pressure to press. I'm happy with the Prime 13, but I can definitely understand if the added pressure is a turn off for some other people because it tires out their fingers. (Maybe work out those finger muscles? kek)

So it's really hard for me to recommend one, especially if it's your first a keyboard when you aren't sure what you want.

Only problem there is no store where I live has mechanical keyboards on display, just standard, traditional ones. Even my Best Buy has embarrassingly slim selections for computer goods.

Some things can help:
1. Do you know which Cherry switch you want? You can watch YouTube videos on those.
2. Does the keyboard need red-colored backlight? Does the keyboard need to support multiple backlit colors?
3. Do you want a full keyboard or tenkeyless?
4. Do you prefer soft keys (very little pressure to press) or are harder ones fine?
5. Do you want programmable macro keys?

1. From what I've read and watched, I'd probably prefer red or brown with a leaning towards brown.
2. RGB lighting would be nice and preferred, red lighting would be the minimum I would want from a strictly stylistic standpoint.
3. A full keyboard would be nice but unnecessary; I can do with TKL, since the only thing I'd use those keys for is the calculator, which I have my phone for. Not to mention TKL would give me more open space, which is always nice.
4. I'm used to the harder ones. The only base of comparison I have is stuff like my Redragon S101 Vajra and Logitech K120 (regular keyboards) and even with how clunky the Redragon feels, I'd take that over say, a Mac or laptop-style keyboard.
5. I'm not familiar with macro keys...are they like function keys that you can assign nearly anything to (like pressing one to launch a specific app)? If so, that'd be one of those "nice but unnecessary" features for me.
