Hello! I'm finally doing a new build after 5 years or so.

I will use the computer for causal gaming, movies, and typical web browsing. I'm currently playing Black Desert Online.

I took these ideas from the budget build threads (thanks guys!) but it seems that prices are fluctuating. My original goal was around $1,000 but i'm willing to go over.

(I already have) PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G3, 80 Plus Gold 550W, Fully Modular, Eco Mode with New HDB Fan, 7 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply 220-G3-0550-Y1 $80

I still need everything else. I typed in the current prices as I see them today.
CPU: Intel Core i5-7600K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 3.8 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80677I57600K Desktop Processor $240 Newegg
CPU Cooler: DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler 4 Heatpipes 120mm PWM Fan with Blue LED $24 Newegg
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z270XP-SLI (rev. 1.0) LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard $135 Newegg
Storage: SanDisk SSD PLUS 120GB Solid State Drive (SDSSDA-120G-G26) [Newest Version]
$60 Amazon
Storage: WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX - OEM $50
Case: Cooler Master N400 NSE-400-KKN2 N-Series Mid Tower Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support, Multiple 240mm Radiator Support, and Ventilated Front Panel $60 Newegg
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Memory Kit Model F4-2400C15D-16GRR $123 Newegg

Video Card: ??

Im up to $772 before the video card.

Is there anything you suggest I change? I don't know what to do about a video card.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Ok, I have 2 EVGA PSUs, love em, but before you become wedded to your used one, how old is it, and how hard has it been used?
What resolution, refresh rate, and does your monitor have G/Free-synch?

Its brand new. I ordered it to replace the one in my old build but i found the problem and it wasn't the PSU.

This is my old monitor. i'm sure i'm due for an upgrade. ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widesc
reen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ASCR 20000:1 (1000:1) W/Speakers

any suggestions? thanks

Well right now and for the short term foreseeable future, it's a bad time to want a new GPU unless you go low end (GTX 1050-1050Ti) or high end (GTX 1080-1080Ti). AMD 570s and 580s are non-existent as are GTX 1070s. GTX 1060s are out there but costing upwards of $150 or more than they were a month ago. For the US market anyway.

Even the used GPU market prices of AMD 4xx and Nvidia 9xx GPUs have shot through the stratosphere. You can thank cryptocurrency miners for that. I've actually got my 970s in SLI for sale taking advantage of it. Last month they were selling for $150 on eBay. Now bids have them at $225+.

So it looks like my options are to eat a $150 markup or try and wait out the price spikes....
OR use a low end card. I'm not a huge gamer so i don't want to blow unnecessary $ on a high end card.

Build looks good so far, that PSU will be fine. With that monitor you're looking for a 1060 or 580/480x, as previous poster noted, it's a bad time. Use your old for now and save for high end card, the rest of your build will work nicely. This will set you up for a nice new monitor in the near future. A 4k or 1440 monitor will look great☺.

Skipped SSD as it is not very important as it does not effect performance.

This build is better then the one i posted?

Definitely it is better in performance.
You can skip the PSU as you already have a good one.
If you can spend extra you can add a 240GB SSD to it. But having SSD does not effect performance in any way. It just improves boot time, load times in games and data transfer rate.

Thanks for the help. The only problem is the video card. When i clicked the link after you first posted it, the price already went up. It's crazy how these prices are going up so quickly. I don't know what i should do.
