Recently bought Playerunknown's Battleground(PUBG). Have to play on everything low and sometimes houses are very distorted and can't even open the door. Is this a graphics card issue, or otherwise? My current mediocre setup is :

i5-2400
8gb ram ddr3
gtx 960
600W evga supply
asus p8h61-mle motherboard

If it is a graphics card issue - being too weak or what not - I was thinking of getting a gtx 1060 6GB. Can this work or will it just be bottlenecked by the shit cpu I have?

Thanks for your time.

Solution

recommended is an i5 with a 390 or gtx 970

a gpu upgrade would be the way to go, and yes a gtx 1060 is a good idea

Thanks for your fast answer. While you're here, just a stupid question. When upgrading gpu, is the only thing I have to look out for the wattage, making sure it gets the power it needs? Are there no other compatibility issues? Just seems the gpu and cpu are totally separate entities and the game wholly runs on the gpu. Thanks again.

you need to make sure:

your case can fit the card

your power supply has enough wattage, and has the pcie cables the new card requires

motherboard bios is up to date, since you have an older mobo

both your cpu and gpu matter, if either is too weak then the other is held back from reaching maximum fps it is capable of

That game needs a lot of videocard power. The 960 is not a bad card, but at 1080p PUBG is too much for it. A 1060, especially the 6gb version, will help a lot.

The 2400 is not a fast quad core but it's still capable of gaming. It'll be enough for this game. PUBG is early access and not well optimized, that's what will hurt your performance more than the 2400.
