Hi.

Im looking for recommendations on a hard drive formatting tool which will provide me with a printable certificate at the end of the format. The certificate needs to show that the hard drive model and method of deletion etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a low cost piece of software, I don’t want to start paying for various ones only to find they don’t do what I want so if someone has any ideas of a good piece of software that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I agree that a cost per erasure is a bit prohibitive for your situation.
I do not know of another secure erase option that would do what you desire.

Probably Blancco Drive Eraser, from DBAN
"Should you need to erase data from a SSD or require a certificate of data removal, request a free trial of Blancco Drive Eraser."

Blancco looks great for wiping one drive with their free one off license but I want some software that I can use multiple times for the next 12 months without having to pay a one off fee each time. Blancco want £37 per license / per erasure, which would make the whole process pointless if recycling drives. From a corporate business point of view its fair as they need to destroy important information where as I the home user just want to wipe some drives from time to time and prove that ive wiped them before passing on someone elses computer.

If just for home use, why the need for a certificate?
Unfortunately, that feature costs.

I sometimes get computers donated to me and its just nice to do a print off to prove that I have wiped the drives for peoples piece of mind. Im more than willing to pay for some software, but Blanccos £37 per drive would cost more than most drives are worth. It doesnt have to be a certificate, just a report maybe to say that the drive has been wiped at the end of it.
