Hi All,

I recently bought some new ram (2 x 8 GB) to upgrade from the 4 x 2 GB im currently running:

HyperX FURY 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 1866 MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Red
(https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00J8E8ZOC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Once i put the install the new ram the PC boots for ~1-2 seconds and then shuts down, it then enters a reboot loop. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

My motherboard is:

Gigabyte GA-Z68P-DS3
(https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z68P-DS3-rev-10#sp)

which states it is able to have upto 32 Gb of ram so I cant figure out where I am going wrong...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks very much in advance.

Solution

Xmp profiles are setting in the bios that enable compatible memory to perform at there designed speeds and timings .
Simply enter the bios and find the xmp profile and enable it .
Save and exit bios.

Hi Yamitime,

Thanks very much for your reply. What is that exactly is that? Please forgive, I'm somewhat a novice when it comes to these things.

I've seen a thread about manually tuning the bios settings to detect the exact RAM specs or take out/ put in the CMOS battery to attempt to get the PC to auto-detect again (not too keen on trying this approach...)

thanks again for your help

Is the RAM defiantly pushed in the slot correctly? Chances are it won't boot if it's not. Does it beep on startup?
