Problems after upgrading RAM

Hello, I recently upgraded my RAM, and problems started appearing because of it (at least I think it's because of the RAM). The situation's a little complicated, so I will do my best to describe it in maximum detail.

I have an ASUS laptop, it has 4GB of DDR3 1600MHz memory pre-installed, and you cannot take it off. My laptop have another RAM slot, so last year I bought a new 2GB RAM (total memory is 6GB). It works perfectly fine.

Yesterday, I bought another one, this time it's 8GB. I swapped out my 2GB RAM. It works fine for the first couple minutes, but after that, seemingly at random times, my laptop started doing this glitchy thing: http://imgur.com/a/NVXpx
You can't move your cursor or even do anything when it does that, so I have to force shut down my laptop. I even reinstalled Windows, it doesn't do anything.

The RAM sticks are both 1.5V, I checked it myself, but what's interesting is, my 2GB stick that works fine is 1333MHz, and the 8GB one is 1600MHz. Does that mean my Motherboard doesn't support 1600MHz, even though my laptop detects it? Or maybe the stick is faulty?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Solution
Yes the stick may be faulty and yes your motherboard may not work properly with it. Did you check if the laptop is compatible with the RAM model/brand you got? Also running at non-dual channel is not too good. In most cases you are better off running on two 4 GB matches sticks rather than an 8 and a 4.
