just got my old pc back from my brother.

all i need is a gpu.and a monitor and potentialy a new psu.

current spec as follows.

i5 4690k (stock speed)
msi gaming 5 mobo
16gb ddr 3 @ 1600
520 watt be quiet psu (single rail)
144hz 1080p monitor.

would i get away with buying a 1080ti with my current spec? or will my cpu.bottleneck the gpu.

in november i will.be spending £2000 on black friday and buildi a new a pc ..new chipset ..extreme i7 cpu .

but for now i want to spend on a new gpu and possibly a new monitor but ill leave buying a new cpu untill we know whats what with threadripper and the i9 cpu's.

Solution
If your priority is gaming, the i9s and the threadrippers are not exactly meant for gaming. Better wait for Coffe Lake or look into Ryzen 5.
As for the 1080ti, it should be on par, maybe a slight bottleneck in certain games with that i5. But its a wise investment as you are planning to build a faster pc anyway.
