Hello. So, I am trying to check compatibility of processors for a motherboard. I was able to determine I have an Intel H61 chipset and im on the intel site where it will tell me what processors are compatible, but I can not for the life of me figure out how Im supposed to know if its a "DH61ZE" , "DH61WW", or any of the other many options. I know its micro atx and not mini itx, but that only narrows it down part-way, and different chipsets within the h61s support different processors.

Im working with a Lenovo IdeaCentre K330B, its a CIH61M v 1.0 motherboard.

I know that i can't upgrade much from the 2.6ghz dual, but i want to anyways for the time being.

I just want to figure out the full chipset type I have and am at a complete loss. I spent a lot of time on Lenovo's site also to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It seems that the K330B came with Sandy Bridge intel CPU's, which lines up with the H61 chipset on the motherboard. Provided that Lenovo didn't use some weird proprietary hardware (very highly unlikely), you can probably pop in an i7 2600 for 4 cores/8 threads without much issue, which would be a vast improvement over the 2 cores/2 threads of your current CPU. You might need a better CPU cooler though.

Pretty much anything from the Sandy Bridge family of processors should be plug'n'play. I think.

Ok, cool. I wish there was a way to know for sure, but based on what I've learned since I originally asked this question I think this is the best information I can get without paying to talk to Lenovo people. I'm gonna give the 2600 a shot. Thank you!

Those are mobo models not chipsets. The chipset is h61 and that's all there is to the name. There are different mobo manufacturers and those are intel mobo models. You already know your model number. You can try to contact lenovo to get a cpu support list.

Oooooh. Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Unfortunately, Lenovo charges money to get support and their website wasn't very useful.
