I don't know why, but this has happened a few times and I tried looking around for the solution but nothing seems to fit. I have windows 8 and when I shut it down, even though the monitor is off, it takes a little bit of time to shut down, so I just leave the room. When I come back in the morning, it's in sleep mode. I checked Windows logs and something stood out: "The last shutdown's success status was false. The last boot's success status was true." and "The boot type was 0x0." Is this relevant? Please advise. Thank you!

2. Check the Startup programs in Start > Run or search and type "msconfig" > press Enter and in the Startup tab > unmark to disable unnecessary or unknown programs... then in the Services tab > check Hide Windows services > unmark non-windows Services except for the Antivirus service.

3. Scan the OS for virus and malware just in case there's some unwanted bug causing the issue.

4. In Control Panel > Device Manager > Check the Network Adapter Properties > Power Management > Allow this Device to Wake the Computer > unmark the box to disable the Network Adapter driver from waking up the computer from the network or Internet. Also in the BIOS, disable the Network Adapter capability to waje the computer from the network or Internet.
