Will using the wrong ram hurt my motherboard?

I want to use my current ram:

Corsair 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz DIMM 240-pin CL9 - CMV8GX3M2A1333C9

In the following motherboard:

Asrock H61 Pro BTC.

However the ram is not listed on their memory support list for the board:

Is it worth me trying or do you think i will damage the board?

No it won't hurt your board. The QVL is simply the different memory they were able to verify before putting the board to market. It isn't an exhaustive listing.

I am thinking of purchasing this board and using my current Processor and ram to save on cost! My Processor (Pentium Dual Core G2020 2.9GHz S1155 3MB) looks to be compatible although i may have to update the bios depending on what revision the board is.

I think i may need the P1.11 bios or later.

I also currently have a 120gb SSD 6g sata, the board only has 3g sata sockets but i'm pretty sure the 6g is backward compatible and should not make to much speed difference.
