Hello,

I am doing a Creative Endeavor Project on building an artist computer. The basis of this project is to immerse myself into the art of the creation of a personal computer, which will further promote creative expression over a multitude of media (audio, video, photo, and game creation). I know I may not get many responses, I will be happy with a few as I continue my project.

I have a budget around $1300 - $1400 and have been given as gifts or donation by friend or family a case, a 550 psu, two 8gb ram sticks, a 120gb ssd,and two hdd of 320 and 1000gb respectfully. From researching and networking with computer places and hobbyist on my own, I have been told these parts are mainly standard and do not dictate the theme of the desktop being built.

As I am looking to create a computer to preform a multitude of artisan software, I would like to know what to look for in cpu, gpu, mobo, and cooling. If what I have already been given does not form well with what I am going for please do let me know as well.

Also, what operating system will help work with the software best. The software will cover (audio, video, photo, modeling, and game creation). I will also only be using it as a hobbyist would and not like for a company.

Thank you to those who read and respond to my topic!

Goto part picker and plug in your parts and see if they are compatible. For example, there are different kinds of memory, and the "two 8gb ram sticks," could be DD3 or DDR4.

Post the brand of the power supply (also know as PSU). Some are so bad you do not want to use them. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
