I am looking to upgrade my GA-F2A88XM-HD3 and Athlon x4 880k to ASRock AB350M Pro4 and Ryzen 5 1600.
I'd like to ask if I have to flash my BIOS in order to use the new MOBO and CPU, or I can just remove the old ones and put the new parts and I'll be fine.
BIOS is specific to a motherboard. On the new Ryzen motherboard you should flash the BIOS to get the best stability. What you can't probably do is reuse the same Windows installation from the previous motherboard. You should do a clean Windows install for best stability.

ASRock AB350M Pro4 supports Ryzen 5 1600 from initial BIOS version. No need to update.
Update only, if you encounter some other compatibility issues, that BIOS update promises to solve.
But windows re-installation is strongly recommended.

I disagree with this advice given the RAM compatibility issues Ryzen has had since launch. Definitely update the BIOS for maximum compatibility.
Okay, thank you, one more question.
Is the MOBO good enough for Ryzen 5 1600 (I am not going to OC it prolly or not in near future, only because im not familiar with how).

When do I upgrade (sorry for my uneducated questions, I'm new to this), after I install the MOBO and the CPU, and the new Windows?
It is OK. Will you use the PS2 ports? If not that is a waste. The audio ports are kind of lacking, no optical output. Kind of a middle of the road board IMO.

The user's manual will have the proper way to update the BIOS. You probably can do so before you install Windows, but I would have to read the manual.

I'm not gonna use the ports.
Can you recommend me one if possible, for kinda the same price (can go a bit higher, still on a budget).
