HDMI to USB Question

I recently found one of those panels that repeats an add (like you see in airports and doctors offices), and it repeats an AVI file from a removable usb drive. My question is, would it be possible to use an HDMI to USB adapter so I could use it as a monitor or something?

An AVI file is not live video. it requires a player or program that can read the AVI file and then convert it to a video that can be displayed on the TV. Basically, you can't feed a live video into a USB port.
