I have a Titan-X Graphics cared with 250W power requirement and recommending 600 W PSU. I have a 635 W PSU with 2 x 6 pin PCIE connectors. However, Titan X graphics card requires 1 x 6 pin and 1 x 8 pin PCIE. Here are the specs http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-titan-x/specifications. Is using http://www.amazon.in/Cable-Matters-2-Pack-6-Pin-Adapter/dp/B01DV1Z32Y/ref=pd_sim_23_8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VZKYX08AM4GQD2JM3RXE a possible option. If not what are my other options? I have looked up a lot of related questions here and they offer mixed opinions in the matter of using 6 to 8 pin adapters.

I looked into http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3001494/psu-pin-pcie-pin-pin-converters-buy.html

You show the graphics card link but not a link to the power supply. That is a way more important piece of info than the graphics card. I am betting that your 635W power supply is garbage and won't support your card. I would recommend a power supply with the correct connectors rather than a kludge.

check the required amps for the graphics card, and what the PSU can supply. if that all looks okay you can probably use an adapter and be fine, that being said if you want to actually be safe just go buy a new PSU. Its silly gamble with your very expensive graphics card.

It's one which came inbuilt with dell tower PC t3600. I couldn't find the exact specs. Could you suggest a suitable power supply? And I'm guessing it can go standalone along side the system because I have to plugin the GPU in the PC's pcie slot too

Thanks @kanewolf. That was just what I was looking for. Looks like I'll have to upgrade the PSU after all.
