Installed the ASUS ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard with AMD FX-Series FX-6300 3,5GHz Socket AM3+ processor. Nvidia graphics card to get HDMI, Corsair 750W power. Very disappointed at first startup when nothing happened, blank screen and no signs of life except fans running. CPU voltage measured at 12v. What could possibly be the problem? What can I do? Never experienced total failure before. Replace CPU? Mobo says RAM OK.

As mentioned in my post, I had to use the HDMI output from the graphics card since the motherboard only has an optical output. I can only suspect the CPU must be the problem and I will take it out today and expect the system to show just the same symptoms as before. To me, that would confirm that the problem lies with the CPU and I am prepared to buy another CPU to verify that.

As I already wrote, there is no HDMI output on the motherboard, only optical. That is the reason I installed a graphics card. But the problem is more fundamental, as there are no signs that the BIOS is working, There is no POST info (Power On Self Test) to be seen. I presume that when a graphics card is installed, the system should recognize that and use it.

I have read the manual and it says that the motherboard is equipped with a number of POST diodes that light up during POST and stays alive until the system is shut down again. I have not seen any signs of life in them, and I will contact ASUS locally to hear what they have to say.
