DDR4 2400 cas latency 10 or DDR4 3000 cas latency 16? For everyday use web browsing, gaming, watching videos and other computer activities which one is the better choice?

Solution

On a Skylake system the clock speed difference will be barely noticeable.

For everyday use like web browsing, gaming, watching videos and other computer activities, as you've mentioned in your original post, I would think using more responsive memory would make for a better user experience because the system will feel more responsive.

None of the activities, that you've mentioned, are extremely memory intensive.

Would the DDR4 3000 be better in any situation?

If you're using it in an AMD Ryzen system, the higher speed memory would be much more beneficial.

Ah I see, I already have 16gb (2x8) of corsair dominator 2400 cas 10. And I want to upgrade to 32. So I was debating on where I should get another 16gb of the same memory or get a 32gb kit of Ballistix Tactical DDR4 3000 for $290. I read some good reviews of the Ballistix ddr4 3000 so I wasn't sure what to get. But thanks for clearing it up. I'll just get the Dominator 2400
