Resolution doesn't really matter to the CPU. If a CPU can crank X number of frames at 720P it can crank out the same number X at 4K assuming you have a powerful enough GPU to do it. The only bottleneck you would have was if you used a 144hz monitor and were trying to get over 120FPS as mentioned before.Your only asking for 60FPS. Now there are some games, regardless of the i5 used (2500k or 7600K) like BF1, Watch Dogs 2, Ghost Recon The Wildlands that can take every thread you have and can run into issues on 4C/4T CPUs. Especially in 64 player servers. As a whole though you should be just fine with your setup for 1080P@60fps.

Well i dont know the exact numbers, but games have very different hardware demands, meaning one game likes a beefy CPU and the other game only cares about a beefy GPU while not getting influenced by what kind of cpu you are running.
try looking at this if not done yet:
Also look at review of games you want to play and see what hardware it can be played on .

So I checked the performance percents on game debate between the i5 2500 and the i5 7600k and its only 25% so when a new generation or 2 come out at what margin of percents should I think about upgrading?
