While playing a game, colored boxes appeared and sprites/objects in the game (such as the crosshair or what not) have white boxes around it. At start it would just stay like this and not fix it self, however after restarting it fixed it self. But now it appears for a brief then dissapears in the instant i want to take a screenshot. I managed to get one right here.

I have tried multiple things.

  • -Restarting PC multiple times
    -Reinstall driver
-Reconnect the cables from the monitor to my PC
-Clean the dust in and near my PC

My Specs

  • CPU i5-2500k @ 3.3GHz
    GPU GTX 660 ti
    Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO GEN3

I have overclocked my CPU, i have nothing else overclocked.

Is this a sign of my PC getting too old and i should buy a new PC, or is it something i could fix?

I have brought my CPU back to stock (or "Load Optimised Settings") and now all i need to do is wait and test it on some games.

I found out that the game that makes it break more often is the exact game i was playing when this happened (the same game is in the picture).

I haven't tried older GPU versions, because of how i was actually lagging behind on the version, i updated and problem still persist.

Going to try this IF resetting my CPU to stock won't fix it.

I have tried overclocked my GPU before this happened, but couldn't find a good stable set up. So i reverted it to stock.

EDIT:Resetting my CPU to stock settings did not work, going to try reseating GPU

EDIT 2: after days of waiting, it appears to have been decreased from being often appearing to rarely appearing. However there are occasional times where it would have just a huge black rectangle somewhere on the screen for a split second, however that happens rarely and i dont get bothered by it that much. Thank you guys for the answer! :D
