Hi,

Since the last two days, my computer has been hanging a few minutes after startup. Sometimes, it is not immediately after startup but later. I don’t do any heavy gaming…just basic stuff. I may be working on a Word document while also surfing a Web site or chatting on Skype. The moment I switch from Word to Skype, it freezes. Or while watching a video on VLC, if I suddenly switch to Word or Skype chat, it freezes. Sometimes, simply opening another application while surfing causes a freeze. In all these cases, pressing CTRL+Alt+Del does not bring up the Task Manager…it just goes into an indefinite hang and then I have to restart the system. And I must have restarted at least 20 times today.

My system configuration is as under:

AMD Athlon II X3 440 Processor on MSI 880GMA-E45 motherboard with 2X2 GB Kingston DDR3 RAM
OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.
Hard Drive is WDC 500 GB divided into 3 partitions:
C: 48.7 GB with OS & all installed programs
D: 208 GB with data
E: 208 GB with data

I am using this system since 2013 but have never faced such a problem before. Please help!

Thanks for the response. A complete system scan with Avast detected no viruses. I'll now do a malware scan too.
About overclocking, I am not too sure. If I have overclocked, how would I check or eliminate it?
