Sudden wifi loss

A couple of nights ago, I was on my computer when the wifi went down. This happens occasionally, so I tried to do what I normally do to fix it. I let the troubleshooter reset the network adaptor, and when that didn't work, I unplugged and re plugged the actual router. This didn't fix the issue either.

Yesterday, I was able to get the wifi to connect somehow, but it was very weak and was prone to disconnects. Today, I have been unable to get it to work at all.

In trying to fix it, I noticed some things that confused me. My desktop and laptop computers do not get a good signal, unless they are in the same room as the router, then they work fine. The tablet I own gets a good enough signal to work anywhere, but only has one bar. A third desktop computer works anywhere I've tested it.

I have two wifi channels that I can use. The one I used normally is completely unusable, while the second was the one I was able to get to work yesterday. Currently, both do not work and either drop as soon as I connect, or show two bars with the limited/no internet warning.

My desktop runs windows 8.1 and my laptop runs windows 10. The other desktop runs windows 10, but was an upgrade. When the wifi works everything runs fine. I have also used malwarebytes and it showed no viruses.

I've never had this problem before, so I don't know if the problem is with the computers or the router. Any insight would be appreciated.

*EDIT - Moving my computer physically from one side of the room to the other lets one channel of wifi to work constantly with no issues. I really just need to know if I should look at a new wifi adapter or a new router, I figure it could be either. Also, the wifi adapter i use is a TP-Link N900 Wireless dual band PCI express adapter. The adapter is a little over two years old, and the router is at least four years old.
