Is this a good system for under 1100 CAD for 1440p gaming?

Solution
The GPU is a bit slow and lacking memory for 1440 gaming. Also you are going to have a heck of a time trying to find one in stock for anywhere near that price.

For 2560x1440 or 2560x1080 you really want at least a GTX 1070. Given how ridiculous prices are right now. I would look at a GTX 1080. They aren't great for crypto mining compared to the cost and power usage of a GTX 1070 but are much better for gaming. So, their prices haven't gone up much at all.

This build costs a bit more but will do quite well at 2560x1440. Plus you can find all the parts. You are going to have a hard time finding any GTX 1060 under $375 CAD. At such a ridiculously inflated price. A GTX 1080 makes much more sense.

Yea I know the prices suck. As in the...

Yea I know the prices suck. As in the here and now if you want a gaming system. Either go low end with a GTX 1050 Ti or high end with a GTX 1080. Mid range prices are ridiculously high.
