1| Sell the sticks to get some cash and reinvest on some ram sticks meant for your desktop.
2| Why not just source a second hand machine that accepts SO-DIMMS?
3| You might want to pass on the specs of your desktop. Likewise the make and models of the rams would also be of help.
4| Mixing and matching old and new sticks of ram is very bad practice. If you want a ram upgrade, buy a kit.
