hey guys,l recently i think i messed up one of my laptop's USB 3.0 port somehow.
it works in a wierd way

i have an ASUS K55VM laptop and one day one of the USB 3.0 port stopped recognizing my devices. it still outputs powers as i can see my devices connected to it light up.
then i got really insane, took a pair of tweezers and fiddled with the port while my laptop was on. There was a spark in the port and the laptop shutted down.
Now here's the weird magic. After i restarted my laptop the port actually worked as good as new, i thought i have solved the issue, but now whenever i put my laptop to sleep it again doesn't get recognized. i have to shut down my laptop and restart it to make it work.

What could possibly the issue. the fact that it works means that there is no damage to USB chips.

I hope anyone of you great mates could help me with this.

You are very lucky if it ever works again at all, after that.....and it won't be fixed short of a disassembly and mainboard swap. unless you are good at soldering on new USB port headers on laptops.

well you definitely broke it the reason it shut down is you shorted the port and it shutdown for safety id rma your laptop to asus and have them repair it it will cost money cuz it is physical damage

Yes but wouldn't just swapping the usb port with a new one work? also as i said it works just as good as new when i restart the laptop.
