Problem with my motherboard/cpu/fan

My computer does not boot. I opened it the first time, and the problem seemed to be the fan as it was spinning for a few seconds then stopping. I disassembled the whole system including the motherboard. On putting them back together, the fan is now working, but still, the computer is not booting. Even the hard disk light will not turn on. Apparently, the optical drive is opening and closing. When, I press the power button, I can hear the HDD spins. What could be the problem?

Acer Veriton S661 (desktop).

Solution
Most likely fan was just a symptom not the cause. Problem may lay somewhere else, try with just minimal setup without a GPU, disks and everything else, reset CMOS etc. Also check the CMOS battery.

Always post your full system's specs when posting a thread of troubleshooting nature. List them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:

Like Kenton82, I also think the ODD is the culprit but it could also be that your HDD is failing(or has died).

Already disconnected the optical drive. Cannot get to see the boot menu, cause nothing displays on the monitor.
