Is 550 watt enough for theses specs
I7-7700k, m.2 500gb, 2*1TB HDD, Z270E, GTX1070/1060 16GB RAM. THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT DO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WILL THIS BE ENOUGH AND WILL THERE BE ENOUGH ROOM FOR FUTURE UPGRADE. I'M THINKING CORASAIR RM550X MODEL. THANKS IN ADVANCE. (I'M WRITING IN CAPITALS BECAUSE IT IS EASIER TO READ)

Solution

If you are talking CPU = yes, GPU = yes (if using SLI, you may want to jump up 100w more to be safe) Anything else (reasonable) and the power draw would be negligible.

it just enough power for now if you want to upgrafe in futere or overclock it a little bit i don't think 530 would be enough as all the component psu is very important for you system stability and you should know 550w power doesn't exact output of 550w and when the tempture of psu get higher the power output is going lower and you live in a warm countrey so it's safer to get 750 watt of power instead , to be future proof and safe.

If you buy a bad one maybe, but he's looking at a good unit.

This PSU can output 99.9% of it's output on the 12V rail. 549.6W is 550W in my book. I'm sure it can handle heat as well. The RM550X is a fine PSU and there isn't a problem using it.

thank you for the link but a little headroom doesn't hurt...anyone who build a system with that specification would keep it for a long time and would definitely overclock it in future to keep up with new games and after a year or two your power output is gonna get lower...and i assumed he woulduse at least 4 140mm or 120mm fan for cooling the case...also he might add sata devices.

A little headroom? He's looking at a sub 100W CPU, and a sub 200W GPU. Gaming load will be less then 350W. Double that would be 700W. What you are suggesting is putting a less than 50% load on the PSU. That's a horrible idea. 550W is more then enough to handle single GPU setups.

yes 7700k use around 100 watts under heavy load he asked himself for head room for future upgrades...what if he want's use sli card with 1070 ? isn't it better to pay a little extra for a good psu and be future proof and if you buy good psu with good cooling it live for ever i have a power unit that i use everyday 12 hour a day for 10 years.
it's better to buy a good power with enaugh wattage so if he goes with any future upgrades even a new rig he woud save the psu and buy the other components.

I thought that way, ended up getting rid of my 750W because I was never going to upgrade to CF. IF he was going to upgrade to SLI he could buy a bigger PSU. But he didn't mention doing that, and I would argue that most people who use SLI do so from the start. By the time the prices of the 1060 or 1070 drop to make SLI cheap, the 3080 will be the new hot card and it won't make sense to SLI the 1070. IF he's going to go SLI he should do so now. But I wouldn't buy a PSU on "hopes" that he'll upgrade to SLI later. I'm running my system on a 450W PSU. 300-325W load. His system should have a similar load if not lower, and his PSU is even bigger. Trust me, he'll be fine.
