I just did an upgrade on a friends pc for him and gave him my old gtx 770 4gb windforce. I did the driver installation yesterday and the computer ran flawlessly. However this morning we have come to multiple issues. Windows would not boot up without safe mode, after driver fiddling I found that the graphics driver was the cause. I uninstalled it and booted windows normally. Upon reinstalling the driver the screen went black and never came back on until I restarted the pc, effectively stopping the driver install. I reseated the card, moved it down to a different pcie slot and the problem persisted. His old card is a radeon r7 240, put this card in and the pc works fine. I know all the signs here point to card failure, but it's just hard to believe that the card stopped working overnight, It has been kept in pristine condition, and was working fine playing demanding games yesterday. Could this be a windows 10 issue? At this point we are pulling at straws for any possible solution other than the card being dead. His specs have new and used parts (some were recycled) but here they are:
Fresh Windows 10 64bit installation
Toshiba 500 GB HDD (old part)
WD Blue 1TB HDD (old part)
Dynex 4GB ram x2(old part)
MSI 970A Carbon Pro (new)
AMD FX-8350 CPU (new)
This was very budgeted (why I gave him my old card) and he can't really afford a new card, any possible solution other than a new card would be amazing.
