Are IDE (ATA) hard drives still okay for gaming?

I'm running an older LGA 775 board, because the cpu still has a bit of life left in it. It still has the old IDE connector. My friends give me lots of old hard drives that have such a connector. I checked both of the ones that I have, and they are both 7200 rpm. Will this make them okay for loading games onto, or will the connector alone ruin the experience?

(the drives are called the WD Caviar WD200 and the Maxtor 7Y250P0)
