Hi all,

I need a bit of help.. I have an i5 7600k and I went and tested it on Cinebench R15.
On 5ghz, 1.35v, I'm only getting a score of 700, whilst my friend who has it on 4.6ghz gets 765...

Am I doing something wrong with my OC? Here's my components:

Mobo: MSI Z270 Gaming M5
Cooler: H110i V2
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2666mhz
PSU: 750W 80+ Bronze EVGA (can't remember the part)

I don't reach about 75 when on load, also I'm using a 250GB Sandisk SSD. My friend doesn't have one.

Just increasing the core multiplier isn't all there is to overclocking either. The cores might be running fast, but what about the uncore? That controls things like the cache clock.

Memory timing can be just as important as speed. If every clock cycle the ram isn't quite fast enough and the CPU has to wait another cycle for its data, that will show in the results.

Other software running on the system during the bench?

These are generalizations, but you really would need a complete picture to test accurately.

i might say there would be a problem in your overclock obviously come on 5GHZ ? on 1.35v ?
cinebench just render one scene so you wouldn't know if your pc is stable or not.
get your clock lower at 1.35v and take aida 64 exterem stress test or cpu-z stress test or prime95 if it's stable you're ok.
if you might you build last long don't go higher than 1.35v on stable ferquancy.

There are no other software running whilst I do tests..
He has a very similar setup to mine. Same RAM and ram speed, just a different mobo. I just clocked it back to 4.6ghz and 1.25v which is his setup to get his result of 765. I get 683...

Both Windows 10? I use a Asus tool for my GPU that clears out all my memory 1st. I find I can get 5-10% on benchmarks using that. Could be back ground processes and what not. if both the z270 it should not be that big of a difference.
