BIOS splash screen frozen with "Preparing Automatic Repair" on start-up after installing new hard drive - any suggestions?

I just bought a 1TB Western Digital hard drive for a computer I've just built about a month ago. After installing the hard drive, the computer now freezes at the BIOS splash screen and no longer boots Windows. Windows 10 is installed on a 240GB Sandisk SSD that is still on the system. When I enter BIOS, both the SSD and hard drive are recognized by the system, so I'm not sure what's going on. System was working fine before installing this hard drive. Any ideas? Thanks.

System specs: MSI Tomahawk B350 (BIOS version 1.0)

Ryzen 5 1600

Gigabyte RX580 8GB

G.Skill Trident Z 16GB 3200 ram

So as long as your boot drive is the ONLY drive connected there are no problems, right? It's only when you connect a secondary drive - in this case the WD HDD that the trouble arises.

So it's obvious the problem has something to do with the secondary drive in some way. Obviously you must know that so what troubleshooting steps have you taken to diagnose the problem?

Bizarrely, the problem persists even when I remove the Western Digital drive, so I'm not sure what's going on. As for troubleshooting, I've tried plugging the SATA connectors to different ports and reseting the BIOS to no avail.

I uploaded a couple of pictures of my BIOS. It only gives me the option to switch between AHCI and RAID. If I go into advanced boot options, you can see that the boot mode is set by default on "LEGACY+UEFI", but I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about.

As a side note, for some reason I was able to log into Windows for about a minute or so before a BSOD appeared with a "ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY" error. Hopefully this helps.

Ok, lacking any other options, I will try to flash my motherboard to the latest BIOS version. If that doesn't resolve the issue, I'll do a fresh install of Windows.

It seems like a BIOS flash + a new installation of Windows managed to fix whatever on Earth was wrong with my computer. Thanks anyway to everyone who tried to help!
