I just upgraded my gpu to gtx 1080 ti :) but when under full load the pc crashes. However, using evga precision xoc and setting power limit to 80%, it is stable. I'm wondering what is happening.

My current thinking is that the psu is probably not working too well. My current psu is evga nex750b and I've been using it without problems for 3 years.

The card replaced is gtx 770 with 230w power listing. My new card is evga ftw3 with 280w power listing. The psu recently starts to buzz a little bit.

Any ideas?

The MB in use must also be able to supply up to 75 watts to GPU thru PCI-e slot; some ainboardscould be marginal in this regard, depending on mainboard.....

Certainly the PSU is a suspect candidate, as well...; you've found a good temp workaround that will cots you nothing, but, once you desire max perfomrance at 4K, this 80% power limitation might limit your GPU clocks and performance proportionately.

It would be pretty sad to have a limti at 80%. Is there a way to decide between psu and motherboard on which is failing?

I forgot to mention, my psu has small buzzing sound sometimes.
