I have a i7-4790 and gigabyte GA-B85M-Gaming 3 motherboard and was wondering if it was worth upgrading. I don't have any issues with my cpu seems to run whatever I throw at it but my mobos a bit out of date and lacks enough fan hubs and such. Was looking at new mobos and realized I'd gave to update my cpu as well as the sockets have changed since my current one.
Does it seem worth it to upgrade and if so does anyone have any suggestions for a cpu / mobo combo?
Always had an Intel cpu but is amd worth looking at now?

I7 4790
Gtx 1070 g1 gaming
8gb ram
Samsung 850 Evo ssd
GA-B85M-Gaming 3 mobo

Cheers

Fan headers are on the motherboard, usually one for CPU and one for the case or system fan. Some boards have more. A fan hub can be added to drive multiple fans in a case from a molex connector from the PSU. You don't want to load up four system fans on one motherboard header as it is possible to burn out the header. The fan hub may send a speed sense wire back to the motherboard though.

You have a stout system stay with it, but if you need the cores for productivity and not gaming then Ryzen is offering more for your money. 6core/12thread for I5 prices and 8core/16thread for I7 prices, needs an AM4 motherboard and DDR4 RAM
